Corelle dinnerware is made of laminated glass(laminating makes the finished product stronger,e.g.Wood,Paper,etc.)By this we mean it is a sandwich kind of product. It consists of an inner body glass of 2.4mm thickness surrounded by an outer skin of clear glass of 0.15mm thickness on both sides. Both types of glass have different chemical & physical properties inner body glass 2.4mm and outer body glass 0.15mm.

After heating & forming into shapes, as the product cools, the two kinds of glass contract at different rates. The inner body glass contract faster & more than the outer skin glass. That causes the body glass to pull in the outer glass tightly towards itself. The resulting compression strengthens the glass, giving the product its toughness.

Corelle is the only dinnerware in the world that has this technology. It is chip,crop,crack and break resistant.

Corelle undergoes a series of tests at its factory in Corning, U.S.A.
